Help in animal shelter

14th January 2017, a team of BATMANY volunteers from the Junior High School 51, volunteers of CIM "Horizons" and the OPEN Foundation after the previous products and food collection for "U Wandy" shelter in Przyborówko, a few hours helped by stacking and moving 4 tons of food for animals. We brought more than 200 kg of food and other items that Pet needed.

We gave little sensitivity to dogs, going with them for a walk.

Emotions were at no measure, it proves touching comment of one of the European volunteers, Ventzislav:

Sometimes life knocks you down. Sometimes it lifts you up. Other times it does nothing. Then it’s time for us to take the wheel and do something. And I did. My work as a volunteer for the animal shelter that day was transformative.

We all have certain motivations in life. Some of which are to stay and others not. At least so I thought. Now, having seen all that suffering of these poor animals, I can surely say that no motivations, even the deepest ones are to last. What’s more is that they can also be changed in matter of minutes.

I wanted success, or more accurately I wanted to be recognised. I wanted to be great. My day spent in the shelter I saw people that may never ever be successful. Especially great. At least not in the conventional way we define the meaning of these two. Yet these good people have probably healed more suffering than what the typical 'great’ person will ever do, even in 10 lifetimes.

They are the ones that actually contribute to society and should get much more in return.

I still want to be great, don't get me wrong! Just my definition for greatness changed. I think this experience reminded me that recognition does not always mean success. More importantly, that success does not always come with recognition or at least not external and in the way that we are used to getting it. I saw beautiful, hard-working people getting things done in the cold with huge smiles on their tired faces. I saw God that day."
