EVS in Sannicolau Mare, Romoania

Hi, I’m Michał and I’m a volunteer in Sannicolau Mare, Romoania.
I don’t remember when and where was the first time, I’ve heard about EVS project. The only
thing I remember is that I said to myself that I have to try it!
What I like the most about EVS. I think the biggest value are the people. I’ve never thought
that I could feel so comfortable with people I know only for few days! We all have something
in common. Everybody want to change something in their own life, to learn new things and to
share their experience with others. Each of us is from different walks of life and it makes this
experience even greater!

EVS focuses on you and on your personal development. It’s a learning process based on
non-formal education. By sharing with others and by giving something to the society you
gain new experience and knowledge. You widen your awareness, develop new talents and
strengthen old ones. Do not need to mention about spreading the tolerance and respect. And
of course learning new languages. All together contribute to improving the quality of your life
and people around you!
I’m a volunteer for 9 days, five of which I spend in Preadeal on On-Arrival training. I’ve never
taken part in so amazing meeting before. The atmosphere, other volunteers and trainers was
so amazing. You enter the training room and you feel that everybody is excited about the
next few months. I’ve never felt so motivated. It’s like, after a few seconds you already know
that you’re in a right place, on a right time with right people.
If you’re asking yourself what the hell EVS is I can tell you that this is great opportunity to
discover new cultures and countries. Voluntary service will help you to break stereotypes
about others, you will change your attitude towards people. Widening the horizons &
discovering yourself what this is all about!
After a year of such an experience you won’t be the same person, for sure.
I just want to add, if you’re thinking about EVS stop thinking about it and just do it!
I’m in Romania for two weeks already. After few days in the office I can tell more about my
duties. My project is about birds, more precisely about pigeons. Together with my Friend
from Macedonia – Slavica we have to feed them and so on. But there is so much work to do
in other fields.
Since I feel comfortable with numbers, one of my duty will be taking care of projects budget.
Also we organize some workshops for locals and for kids from the city.
I’m glad that I decided to come here. I had some concerns about the project before I came
here. Taking care of the birds it’s not a dream job. I was worried that it'll give me nothing in
terms of personal development. But right now all the concerns have disappeared.
EVS is a great experience in which you should take part in!
