Hola, I’m Kamila and in April 2012 I went to my EVS project in Lorca (Murcia Region in South of Spain). Project is about working with children, young people and local immigrants.
I work in an organization Cazalla Intercultural dealing with youth exchanges, international projects and local activities focused on youth, children and immigrants who are about 30 percent of the local community. I help children to learn English, conduct workshops and fun for kids in the old part of town, help in taking care of a free computer room. I make also my own initiatives (for example, today I will do ECO-MUSIC Workshops – it’s playing Brazilian rhythms on garbage).
And in the free time ... well this is the best: daily three-hour siesta, 37 km from the sea, trips and expeditions( e.g. flamenco in the Andalusian countryside, hiking along the coast and sleeping on the beach…) and of course the night life, which ends here around 8.00 am, or sometimes does not end...
The only thing I miss is our Polish green, which in May stings the eyes. Here stinging cactuses just and instead of the rain falls there is the sand of the Sahara . The landscape of southern Spain is like on the moon - dry red from heat until top is surrounded by ravines, where the rivers have dried up long ago. Btw, in the near Almeria filming scenes for "Star Wars" were shot. Maybe I will also shoot something cosmic?
