Spring came to the capital of Hungary together with 33 participants willing to get deeper into facilitation of internatioanl events, particulary study sessions. Training course for facilitators involved in non – formal activities with young people took place from 21th to 29th March in European Youth Centre Budapest. YEU was represented there by Karmo Karelson and Michał Kłopocki as participants and Ivana Davidowska as one of the trainers.
The core issues otf the training were improvment od facilitattors competences and exploration of Council of Europe’s values. Although we spent some time on reflecting about non – formal education methods, intercultural learning and human rights education, there was also time to practice. Together with great feedback sessions where we recieved feedback from participants involved in workshops we prepared and from trainers, practice phase of thie training was certainly the most valuable one
In the end of the tc we got opportunty to know better how European Youth Foundation works, which was part of follow up, as many partcicipants wanted to organise study sessions in their organisations.
The facilities of European Youth Centre Budapest were great. Staff always ready to support together with comfortable accomodation caused that even though the training was long and challenging, we did not feel so tired and could work very efficently. Experienced and motivated participants created great space for sharing knowledge and skills.
Also free time activities helped to know each others better, especially great dinner on the boat sailing Danube river, when we had opportunity to admire beauty of the city.
Overall the training was great and everybody felt that afterwards they are better facilitators and while motivation is very high, for sure You will see some of them facilitating internatioanl events soon.
